The Psalm 107 Project

History is like one big book. Each individual person since Adam and Eve, living out their story each day. Some days are good. Some days are bad. Some are exciting. Some are boring. Each person with different experiences and a different perspective. Yet as we all have lived out our story or as we are living out our story, we all have integrated with each other some way somehow.

Psalm 107 starts off by encouraging those who have been redeemed by the Lord, those who have experienced His love to speak out and tell others about it (vv.1-2, 32). It goes on to give 4 examples of different situations wherein the Lord showed his love to people (vv. 4-32). The final two sections of the psalm explain God’s sovereignty and power over creation and people. We see how God can bring devastation, such as rivers into deserts & springs of water into dry and thirsty lands, etc (vv. 33-34). But He can also turn deserts into pools of water, etc (v. 35). It caps off the chapter by saying that those who are wise will take all this to heart; they will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord (v.43)

  • When we experience hardship in our lives’ it’s not always because we did something wrong or are in sin. John 9 tells the story of the the man who was born blind, wherein Jesus makes it clear to the people that this bad situation of blindness was not caused by his sin or his parents, it was so that God’s power could be displayed in his life (Jn 9:3)
  • Our lives are like a letter being written that people can see and recognize the good work among us. It is written not with pen and ink but with the Spirit of the living God. It is not carved on tablets of stone but written on human hands (2 Cor. vv. 2-3)

SONG:

G D Em C

Throughout the years

Throughout the tears

You've been working

You've been near

Throughout the good

Throughout the bad

You've been the best we've ever had

Your faithful love has been a guiding light for us

Your faithful love has been our constant peace and trust

Let them praise the Lord for His great love

And for the wonderful things He has done

For They will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord
